Say No! is an international project for choirs and small musical ensembles. Together we bring a tribute to the deserters. A new composition and related songs by different choirs will draw a firm attention to deserters and war objectors. This performance is also a call to FleeTheFrenzy: Say No! to the madness of weaponry and war.

WAANVLUCHT / FLEEtheFRENZY

Sometime they'll give a war

AND NOBODY WILL COME !

This song is a tribute to deserters and war objectors all over the world.

This hymn calls you and everybody to say No to the madness of weaponry and war!

WHAT'S THE STORY
BEHIND THE SONG ?

WHY SHOULD YOU PARTICIPATE ?

WHAT DOES IT COST YOU ?

Say No! is a newly created song.

Elvis Peeters is a militant Belgian poet and peace activist. He wrote the lyrics.

Dick van der Harst is a Dutch/Belgian composer who wrote a lot for musical theatre. He put the words to music for SATB choir.

We want to send out a powerful signal against the madness of war that causes so much misery in the world.

We do this through a contemporary song and voices from all over the world. We invite you to add other songs in any language to this new composition to create a powerful performance, statement and monument.

Your contribution will be part of a performance, a video and possibly of an monument to the deserters.

The new song ‘Say No!’ may be used for free. There is no participating fee. Any of your expenses will however not be refunded.

Your contribution with any song that reflects the theme is edited for free and will be posted on the website.

The Brussels Brecht-Eislerkoor as commissioner wil pay copyright for the new song, not for other contributions.

INTERNATIONAL

SONG

THIS IS HOW IT WORKS !

Say No is an international project for choirs and small musical ensembles.

Together we sing ‘No to War’ as a tribute to deserters and all war objectors.

You can use the score of the new song and make it your own.

Be creative, change it, add ideas to it.  Just keep the basic concept. You can also participate with a song from your own repertoire, in any language, a song that honors those who dare to Say No to warfare, those who dare not to take the arms.

BE HEARD

We need a good quality recording of your interpretation of a song and, if possible, also a video shot on location, somewhere in town.

Our songs will be a tribute to deserters and war objectors all over the world.

The hymn calls you and everybody to say No to the madness of weaponry and war!

If possible, add images about desertion and war objection from the past or from today :

a statue, an interview with a refugee, a family history ...

Send in your material before October 1, 2016.  No need to make a professional recording or any editing.

A passionate amateur can make the footage using a decent camera or even with his cell phone.

It's about the message.
